Myths About Healthy Eating Habits

Healthy eating habits can affect how well your body performs every day. There are a few myths that can prevent you from feeling good and even how much weight you lose if you believe them.

Below, you'll find some common myths about healthy eating habits.

1. Working out on an empty stomach.
If you hear a rumbling noise in your stomach, it is trying to tell you something. If you don't eat before you work out, you are forcing your body to operate without any fuel. Before you exercise or do any physical activity, always eat a light snack like an apple or any piece of fruit.

2. Relying on energy bars and drinks.
Although they are fine every once in a while, energy bars and energy drinks don't deliver the antioxidants you need to prevent diseases like cancer. For healthy eating habits, load up on fruits and vegetables because they are loaded in vitamins, minerals, fluid and fiber.

3. Skipping breakfast.
Skipping breakfast is never a sensible idea, because breakfast starts energizing your body for the day. If you want to eat healthy, never skip breakfast. Your body needs fuel as soon as possible, and without it, you'll be hungrier throughout the whole day.

4. Low carb diets.
Your body needs carbohydrates for your muscles and for storing energy. Low carb diets are controversial and are just not considered healthy eating habits.

5. Eating what you want anytime you want it.
Eating healthy and exercising doesn't give you a pass to eat anything you want. Everyone needs the same nutrients whether they exercise or not. A good healthy eating habit is not eating anything three hours before you go to bed. If you really need to eat after dinner, eat a piece of fruit.

6. Not consuming enough calories.
Although losing weight involves calories, losing it too quickly is not a great idea. For healthy weight loss, aim for 1 - 2 pounds a week and not any more. Always make sure that you are getting enough calories to keep your body operating smoothly. If you start dropping weight too fast, eat a little more food but make sure it’s healthy food.

7. Drinking soda and alcohol.
Water, low fat milk, and juice are the best liquids to drink for anyone. You should drink a lot of water, and not rely on thirst to be an indicator. By the time you get thirsty, your body is already running too low on fluids.

Soda and alcohol dehydrate your body and work against giving your organs the vital fluids they need. You still need to splurge once in awhile, but keep sodas and alcohol to a minimum.

Changing how you eat is always a great step towards healthy eating and it will affect how your body performs throughout your life. The healthier you eat, you better you'll feel and it really is as simple as that.

Healthy eating habits will make you feel better no matter how old you are. Just by changing the way you eat, you'll benefit from healthy eating habits every single day.
